PAINTERS DISTRICT COUNCIL 21 ENDORSES RONGIONE
THIRD BUILDING TRADE TO ENDORSE GOES TO RONGIONE
AS HE CONTINUES TO GAIN MOMENTUM WITH LABOR
DREXEL HILL – Adding to his growing list of labor support, Vince Rongione picked up his eighth union endorsement on Thursday from the Painters District Council 21. This is Rongione’s third endorsement from a Delaware County Building Trade, a group that historically went with Rep. Nick Micozzie and Republican candidates.
“This isn’t about partisan politics,” Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer Joseph Ashdale said. “This is about the best man for the job. We’ve seen the way Vince works, we’ve seen the values he has and we’re confident he is the best candidate to bring jobs and economic growth to the 163rd.”
“Vince has the guts to stand up for us and for what’s right,” said Bernie Snyder, Business Agent for District Council 21. “Working people need more advocates in Harrisburg and we know Vince can get the job done for the district.”
The Painters and Allied Trade Union of Philadelphia consolidated in 1998 from the Drywall Finishers Local 1955 and Glaziers Local 252. Today Painters District Council 21 includes 10 different local unions across the Commonwealth. Their members work in the Finishing Trades as industrial and commercial painters, drywall finishers, glaziers, glass workers, floor covering installers, sign makers, display workers, convention and show decorators and their skills are in high demand across North America. District Council 21 has over 4,000 members.
“Economic growth that benefits everyone is the key ingredient to improving our neighborhoods, our schools and our everyday lives. I’m proud to stand with Painters District Council 21 in the fight for better wages, safer working conditions and secure retirement,” Rongione said. “It is a real honor to have hard-working people who support Rep. Micozzie pick me as their prefered representative for the future. My family has been in Upper Darby and Havertown for 60 years so I will never stop fighting for our area.”
Rongione continues to build labor support and earn the endorsement of groups that historically backed Micozzie. Rongione has earned the endorsement of United Steelworkers Local 10-1, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 614, United Transportation Union, Plumbers Local 690, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776, Sheet Metal Workers Local 19, and Bricklayers Local 1.
Vince Rongione is a Drexel Hill resident who grew up on Darby Road. He is a graduate of Manoa Elementary, Haverford Middle and Haverford High School.
